About Joe
I'm a Multi-Time Published Photographer. I have been published in a variety of magazines over the last few years including, but not limited to Fashion, Wedding, Portrait, and Fantasy publications.
I began my photography career selling fine art prints, creating dozens of unique images with adding a flair of creative lighting. I decided to get into portraiture around 2016. I was able to use my skills of capturing creative lighting and infuse those elements into my portraits to create a very unique look. Not long after, I got into the wedding photography market. I found I had a natural gift and love for working with couples and individuals during my shoots. Some of these shoots have lead to some amazing friendships over the years.
I have worked with several models over the years, but my passion is working with non-models (the regular, average, everyday person) and making those clients feel amazing when they see their beautiful images. I believe everyone is uniquely beautiful, and it's my job to capture that. When a client wants to post images of themself, I feel like I was successful at my job.
Photography Style
I have developed a few distinct looks for my shoots that have been well received by clients. I love capturing outdoor photos with natural light if possible while adding a touch of creativity utilizing lighting angles and sometimes artificial light (flash) for a unique look.
For indoor shots I use mostly natural light from windows to create two distinct looks. I like to use more of a light and airy style in front of the large windows for full body shots which creates a beautiful soft look that is extremely flattering both in color and black and white. I will also take the softness of this style and create a dark and moody look which creates an extremely creative capture. Along with these two window lighting looks, I have off camera flash lighting setups that create more of a vintage style/feel along with setups to capture amazing creative headshots.
I opt for a minimal editing style. I'll perform basic skin smoothing, detail sharpening, and color grading effects to the photos. I don't like to over render portraits as I prefer to keep people looking more like themselves instead of looking fake and plastic. I'll remove blemishes, but my rule of thumb is that I'll remove it if it's temporary and keep it if it's permanent. I will do extra photoshop work if requested. I will also do creative composites upon request. I love to do creative edits and always looking for a new challenge. I view all of my photoshoots as a collaboration with the client. I love to try and capture personalities whenever possible.
